Title: When Waters Want The Wind
The work utilises takeaway containers as a symbol of working class identity and sets them into a situation that pokes at value. Questioned at its urban core - who are we building for? Presenting a precarity in its lightness, my sculpture mirrors the fragile futures we project. The containers are individual vessels for community building, a sharing of food cultures whilst at a price point establishing a value set of its own. The sculptures are labour intensive, they are bricklaying in the gallery with symbology less of concrete, and more of sharing. Through a collaborative build process, my work imagines the future as something more community focused, something non-hierarchical, as after we’ve been allowed to finally process today.
