the auxiliary - under construction
After 18 months (+10 days to be exact) of delays, the building works at The Auxiliary will begin today, Monday 9th September. Its been a long road getting here but fingers crossed the next 6 months will fly and we'll be back in our new building by Spring.

Alia Gargum was selected for the AUX x MO artists support programme which commenced in May 2024. As a result Alia will be exhibiting work at MAW, benefitting from mentoring and receiving a £1200 bursary to support their practice.
north east open call
In March we sent out the North East Open Call and in May we selected 8 artists from our initial 200 applicants. The selected artists are invited to take part in the NEOC group exhibition which makes up part of the core programme for Middlesbrough Art Week.
new graduate award
The New Graduate Award (NGA) has grown to support nine graduates from five Institutions: Newcastle University, Northumbria University, The Northern School of Art, University of Sunderland and Teesside University.
