Hypha Collective

Interlaced is the second exhibition that brings together the practices of the 13 artists that currently form Hypha. Hypha is a collective of women artists and curators based in the North East who have come together to build a supportive, generous, and critically engaged community.

Drawing from histories of women identifying collectives, we are interested in the relationship between intergenerational/career-level support and creative output, considering collaboration over competition, and the ways in which the collective can inspire, elevate, and hold significance for the future.

Gathering our work together in a shared space represents a tangible action. It opens up a conversation between our practices that reveals relationships and divergences between materials, processes, subject matter, and structures of support.
