Nesh Dadgostar
As a multidisciplinary artist, my work delves into the personal challenges of cultural displacement and the narratives of diaspora-based Iranian artists as they navigate their identity representation. My practice is rooted in exploring the complex space of existing between cultures, going beyond my own experiences to address universal themes of belonging and identity.
By interweaving these elements, I aim to channel honest and vulnerable portrayals of my identity, while simultaneously shedding light on the experiences of those outside my immediate environment. My film work, in particular, is a medium through which I communicate the shifting portrayals of identity when one is uprooted from their natural environment.
This displacement and the resulting transformation are central to understanding how creative practices evolve under such influences. Through my art, I seek to offer a nuanced perspective on the impact of cultural displacement on identity and creativity, inviting viewers to engage with these multifaceted narratives and reflect on their own positions within the global diaspora.
