Egypt Clarke
Egypt Clarke is a multidisciplinary artist whose work expands across many fields of art and design. Her work is an experimental journey of research, exploring a subject matter theoretically and practically, by using playful imagery consisting of loud colour and striking organic forms; a collaboration of 2 and 3 dimensions.
Drawing from theoretical and philosophical research, feminist politics, and conceptualism, Egypt explores the performativity of women within art institutions, while questioning how value is produced through an exchange of desire and objectification. Her practice investigates motives of systemic oppression and how agency surrenders to larger systems of power.
Egypt's work visually conceptualises critical issues of gender equity and stigma within art institutions, all the while conveying a message of fragility and instability in the context of systems of power and authority.
