Matthew Young
Matthew Young is an artist living and working in the North East. Working across Sculpture, Installation and Drawing he explores ways in which we connect with one another and the places we exist. Young is keen to expand consciousness towards gestures that exist in moments of communication and interaction, drawing attention to them and solidifying them.
In creating a body for these moments Young nudges them into a humorous state through material choice, form and interconnectivity within. Based at The Newbridge Project since 2018 and a 2019 – 2020 graduate of Newbridge’s creative development programme The Collective Studio, he also holds a BA in Fine Art from Northumbria University and studied at Academie Minerva in The Netherlands.
Young furthermore co-created the collaborative practice Jawbone Jawbone
