Title of work Window (Debenhams Version 2)
Acrylic on gesso panel, 20.2 x 25.3 cm, 2023.
Window (Debenhams Version2) is part of a recent painting series responding to window designs from historical buildings around Middlesbrough Town Centre. The building was formerly Debenhams on Linthorpe Road and is currently unoccupied due to the decline of the retail industry. I use colour and pattern in conjunction with my personal connections and memories to buildings and their architectural details to produce a reimagined, dynamic, and nostalgic response to these places.
