Lisa Lovebucket
Lisa is a collage artist based in the North. For the past two years, Lisa has collaborated with Jimmy Cauty and L-13 Light Industrial Workshop to release a limited-edition special artwork LP: MdZ ESTATE LP (2021) and The Toxteth Day of the Dead LP (2022). Copies of the individually collaged covers Lisa created for the MdZ ESTATE LP will form part of the MdZ archive when the art installation reaches its final resting place.
Using old LP covers as a starting point, Lisa combined black and white photographs and text from ‘BP Fifty Years in Pictures’ with vivid artist logos and images from Metropolis, Brazil, How To Get Ahead in Advertising, 1984, and What Not? The playful imagery of the collages draws the eye first, before the backdrop of pipelines, prospecting towers, steamers, and the ravaged earth, slowly comes into focus.
This year’s LP (2323 WTFIGO?) will be the final record in the series. Lisa will spend her evenings at VARC creating bespoke collages for the covers. During the day she will seek to collaborate with the natural environment, using daily foraging walks to explore ideas of psychogeography and creative cartography on a microscale, experimenting with photography and sound recordings to create an audiovisual collage that evokes a physical and emotional response to the natural environment.
