DYAD

DYAD

DYAD is a Teesside based artist working with text, installation and mixed media. Their work is grounded in a social consciousness that puts the act of questioning the power structures we inhabit to the forefront of our minds. Work is often cross media and includes text art, collage, audio, installation and illustrative guerrilla aspects such as temporary street art on breeze blocks and stickers. They are currently a studio holder at The Auxiliary Warehouse, Middlesbrough.

Their debut work ‘Slogan’ was selected for the Middlesbrough Art Weekender Northern Open Call in September 2019. DYAD was artist in residence at the Museum of Lakeland Life and Industry for Lakeland Arts as part of their LGBT+ exhibition ‘Within & Beyond’ which opened in October 2019. This saw DYAD create three soundscape audio works that have been placed in Lakeland Arts permanent collection of Abbot Hall Gallery. Work created in Covid quarantine has appeared in Picasso Baby Digital Edition, through the ABODE commissions and in Crisis Chats an art publication funded by Arts Council England.

In July 2020 they exhibited their large-scale polyptych, ‘Three Word’ at Pineapple Black, Middlesbrough. This period of work has been the catalyst for inclusion of their work ‘Redact #3’ in the Baltic Open 2020, their debut digital solo exhibition MAXIM presented in The Auxiliary’s URL_Gallery in January 2021 and SYNTAX at ARC Stockton in August and September 2021 which represented their first physical solo exhibition.
