This years thematic introduced by MAW curator Kyp Kyprianou

We are excited to announce that this year, the Middlesbrough Art Weekender is turning into Middlesbrough Art Week. Now a week-long festival (but with the same acronym, MAW) returns to span two weekends of contemporary art, events and activities across the region between 28 September - 7 October.

The work in MAW 2023: Measure, engages with ways of thinking of past, present and future: from deep time to waiting time to no time. Work selected this year focuses on work that asks us to notice the centrality of time and how we perceive, mark, measure and value it.

Exhibitions by local, regional and international artists and filmmakers (including an Oscar winner) will be shown at a number of venues around the town. Artists to be announced soon.
